World Leader...
This
nugget from president Bush:
I'll say that the world is more peaceful and more free under my leadership, and America is more secure.
To summarize... "the world is ... under my leadership".
All your base are belong to us!
IRS Goal - 80% accuracy...
When Treasury Department investigators posed as taxpayers from July to December or 2002, they only got complete and correct answers
45% of the time. Don't worry, says the IRS, we're shooting for 80% next year.
Would 95% accuracy be too much to ask?
Officer Billboard...
Wouldn't it be nice if putting up
billboards reduced crime? Let's pretend!
Another appendage for hurling excrement...
Just what monkeys need! According to the
New Scientist, "Monkeys can control a robot arm as naturally as their own limbs using only brain signals, a pioneering experiment has shown. The macaque monkeys could reach and grasp with the same precision as their own hand."
To a Semi, SUV's and Light Trucks are Cars Too...
CNN.com - Interstate wreck near Chicago kills 8 - Oct. 1, 2003: "Trooper Douglas Whitmore said traffic was coming to a stop about a half-mile from a toll booth when a tractor-trailer failed to slow down just before 3 p.m. (4 p.m. EDT) in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. It rammed into the back of another tractor trailer, which then hit the bus, he said.
Another tractor-trailer then hit a pickup truck, ripping the smaller vehicle nearly in two."
People seem to be worried that a Hummer H2 is going to smash their Cooper Mini, but there are far more tractor trailers on the road - poised to kill in an instant.
Before we ban the "large" SUV's and pickups that greenies hate, let's focus on improving survivability of personal vehciles vs. commercial trucks. Working on their fuel consumption wouldn't hurt either.
It would hit the pocket book though - unless we divert the traffic to other modes of transportation.
Every night 200 trucks go by my house - but they only have one driver. It's called an Intermodal train, and it's not going to rear-end me at a toll plaza.
Those Sick Framers...
According to CNN.com: "Loren P. Key, 33, was convicted of 20 felony counts, including attempted murder, armed robbery and carjacking, in the shootings last year of two officers and a motorist.
'You are a sick person. You are sick to think you have a right to run around with a gun,' Pam Koelsch, mother of one of the officers, said at Monday's sentencing."
Actually, he's a sick person to run around robbing, carjacking, and shooting people. A lot of healthy people know they have a right to "run around with a gun".
Next we'll be sick for thinking we have a right to free speech, or thinking we have a right to choose our own religeon.
